These works combine both textiles and a variety of painted surfaces using found driftwood, stitch, navigation charts and repurposed papers. Most of the textiles are vintage or leftovers from other projects and I have enjoyed visiting our many beaches to find just the right piece of wood for the back. In this way I have attempted to cut down on consumable products in my art practise. These explorations in collage have a focus of our Salish Sea.
**The bottom piece, titled Sailing into Hope, was the first one I created. The board is from my husband's family house (in Manitoba) built in the early 1900's, since torn down...a little piece of heritage.
This small series is sold out, but I did enjoy the process so much - so there may be more in the future!
