I'm exploring the working harbors where shipping meets the ocean—those gritty spaces at the edge of cities where freighters and container stacks are essential to our economy but exist alongside marine life and coastal ecosystems. In my textile work, I use drawing, painting, and stitching to capture the contrast between hard industrial structures and the soft, flowing qualities of fabric and water. Having lived near harbors, refineries, and military bases my whole life, I've seen firsthand the challenges of balancing industry with environmental needs, and I've watched various groups work toward lasting solutions. My Industrial Shoreline series reflects my belief that we don't have to choose between commercial growth and healthy ecosystems—with effort and collaboration, both can thrive together.
